Book by Wareham native tells tales of living the RV lifestyle
Article by Matthew Bernat

Some people dream about leaving it all behind and hitting the open road, but Wareham native Donna Fisher-Jackson and her husband Jim made that a reality. Over the past three years, the couple has traveled more than 36,900 miles and visited 44 states and 36 national parks in their 39-foot long Heartland 5th wheel RV. "It's possibly one of the best way to see the country," said Donna. These weren't weekend trips, however. After Jim turned down an offer to relocate from California to Texas for his career, the couple decided to sell their home and most of their belongings to travel the U.S. in their RV. The experience is chronicled in Donna's self-published book, "Living the RV Lifestyle: Practical Advice and Personal Tales from Life on the Road." The book includes practical information on making the transition to becoming a full-time RVer and personal stories from Donna and Jim's time on the road. read more

Manifesting with the Moon Cycle

by Donna M. Fisher-Jackson, MA, CHT

The monthly moon cycle is an ideal way to become familiar with Western Astrology, and to learn how to manifest your dreams using the phases of the moon. Each month, we can work with the moon cycle beginning with the new moon to release our intentions for that month. New moons are ideal times to plant new seeds for what we would like to see grow, and come to fruition in our lives.

New Moon- the Waxing phase of the Moon cycle

1. Make a list of no more than ten intentions of what you would like to create in your life that month. It's best to write the list as close to the new moon as possible.

2. State your intentions clearly, and in your own words. You can use the phrase - "I intend," or write the intention as a positive phrase as if it has already manifested such as: "I am now meditating every morning."

3. Post the list in a place where you can see it every day like in your journal, or on the bathroom mirror.

4. Keep repeating your intentions each month until they manifest. Some intentions will definitely take longer than one moon cycle.

5. Make a treasure map/collage that captures a special intention that you are seeking to manifest in your life such as a new home, a new relationship, etc. Create the treasure map for one intention at a time.

6. Making wishes for other people isn't the best use of this tool. You may set intentions for yourself, and how you wish to relate to others, but not to control another's actions.

7. Release your intentions with a ritual such as lighting a candle, or incense. Ritual reinforces the intentions.

First Quarter Moon

1. It's a turning point, and a time to take action on the intentions.

2. Gather the resources and tools that you need.

3. Look at what is supporting your goals, and what is holding you back such as roadblocks and obstacles.

4. Notice how you're nurturing yourself during this time.

Full Moon

1. The harvest phase of the moon shines light on your progress so far.

2. It's a time to look at what intentions are coming to fruition.

3. You may also face some opposition or challenge to your ideas.

4. It's a time to make adjustments/changes to your goals as needed.

Last Quarter - the Waning phase of the Moon Cycle

1. It's a time to continue making adjustments to what was revealed at the full moon.

2. Evaluate your intentions and ask yourself - What is working? What do I need to let go of?

3. It's the pruning time of the cycle.

Balsamic- the end of the Moon cycle

1. A time of completion, transition and release.

2. It's time to let go of projects, and goals that may not be right for you at this time.

3. Open yourself up to the next cycle. Surround yourself with art, music, and/or poetry. Be still to find the guidance within.

4. Rituals at each phase of the moon are powerful ways to highlight your intentions.

Take time at the next new moon to set some intentions. You could be pleasantly surprised to see how quickly you can manifest a goal when you have a clear intention in mind.

Zeiterion plays crucial role in self-published romance novel

By ARIEL WITTENBERG
awittenberg@s-t.com

David W. Oliveira/Standard-Times special:

Author Donna Fisher-Jackson talks about her book “Clara & Irving: A Love Story of Past Lives,” during a book-signing at the Candleworks restaurant in New Bedford Saturday.

NEW BEDFORD - During her seven years working at the Zeiterion Theatre in the 1980s and 1990s, Donna Fisher-Jackson often wondered if her grandparents ever attended a performance there.

The restored vaudeville theater where Fisher-Jackson worked in marketing and public relations seemed to be the perfect backdrop for the love story of Clara and Irving, her grandparents from Onset who married in 1921, during the Zeiterion's prime.

"I'm sure they must have gone to some theater in New Bedford because they were in the area," Fisher-Jackson said Saturday. "But I would have loved if it was the place where I ended up working."

Fisher-Jackson said she pressed her father and two uncles for details of the lives of Clara and Irving, who "lived short lives" and died before Fisher-Jackson was born.

In the absence of proof that Clara and Irving visited the Zeiterion, Fisher-Jackson decided to write a love story for them centered around the Zeiterion in a self-published novel titled "Clara & Irving: A Love Story of Past Lives."

The book is "a fictionalized version of their lives" intertwined with flashes forward to Clara and Irving's fictionalized granddaughter, Danielle, who is based on Fisher-Jackson.

The book chronicles the romances of Clara, Irving and Danielle, many of which take place at the Zeiterion.

"It's about 50 percent true and 50 percent from me," Fisher-Jackson said at a book-signing event at the Candleworks restaurant Saturday afternoon. "It's about true romantics."

Fisher-Jackson did not want to say specifically which of the novel's plot points took place in the theater, but said that they are crucial enough that she is donating 10 percent of her book sales from the signing to the theater.

Fisher-Jackson, who grew up in Wareham and now works as a hypnotherapist and astrologist in California, said the book took her three and a half years to write because "I had to wait until I finished living it until I could write it."

The most difficult part of the writing process, she said, was editing the story once it was finished.

"Every time I read over it, it was like reliving it," she said. "That was very difficult because some parts are about heartbreak and loss."

Going forward, Fisher-Jackson said she hopes the book will one day be turned into a movie.

"I've always loved love stories that take place in theaters, and there's a big market for them, like Moulin Rouge and Phantom of the Opera," she said.

Fisher-Jackson said the book has a universal appeal, and will help people forge a deeper connection throughout generations.

"There's something about love - it never dies. It lives on even after death, and it allows you to connect with a person in a future life," she said. "Our ancestors, even though they aren't around, they still have a lot to teach us about our own selves."

Book signing to aid Z

In other SouthCoast book news, Wareham native Donna M. Fisher-Jackson - the former director of public relations at the Zeiterion Theatre - is back in the Whaling City today to sign copies of her new book, "Clara & Irving: A Love Story of Past Lives" (2012).

True-blue BookLovers may remember back in '09 when I interviewed Fisher-Jackson - now a certified hypnotherapist and holistic counselor in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California - about her holistic book, "The Healing Path of the Romantic."

Back then, she had just generously donated 10 percent of her profits from her Dartmouth Barnes & Noble book-signing to The Standard-Times Neediest Families Fund.

This time, she's here to donate 10 percent of her book-signing sales to the Zeiterion Theatre.

She'll sign copies from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Candleworks Restaurant on North Water Street in New Bedford. The event is free and open to the public.

"I want to support the Zeiterion, which still holds a special place in my heart," she told me. "The Zeiterion Theatre is a vital and inspiring performing arts center for the SouthCoast area. I have always believed in the importance of the arts."

The Z actually plays a vital role in her novel, which was inspired by the romance of her grandparents, Clara and Irving: Set in the 1920s in Onset, her novel tells the story of Clara and Irving, who fall in love during the Golden Age of vaudeville at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford. Told through the perspectives of both Clara and her granddaughter Danielle, the story unveils the lives of two New England women and the men they love.

The book is also available on Amazon. If you can't make it today but want to learn more, visit http://www.donnafisherjackson.com/

Donna Fisher-Jackson Book Signing at Candleworks

Donna Fisher-Jackson, a Wareham native, and currently living in Grass Valley, California, is hosting a book signing party on Sat., December 29 for her new novel, Clara & Irving: A Love Story of Past Lives from 2 - 5 p.m. at The Candleworks Restaurant, 72 North Water Street in historic downtown New Bedford. The event is open to the public. Donna is donating 10% of her book sales from the party to the Zeiterion Theatre, which plays a pivotal role in her latest book.

In her novel, Clara and Irving's love story begins in the Roaring 20's in the town of Onset on Cape Cod Massachusetts. They meet and marry in this golden age of vaudeville theatre, silent films, casinos and dance halls. Their love story revolves around the Zeiterion Theatre, a 1920's vaudeville theatre which becomes the stage for their love affair in years to come.

Told through the eyes of Clara, and her granddaughter, Danielle, the novel unveils the lives of the two women, and the men that capture their hearts across time. From the 1920's to the present time of 2010, their two stories are interwoven revealing the intimate connection between Clara and Danielle who both share a love of the theatre, and the love of a soulmate.

As the author of the non-fiction book, The Healing Path of the Romantic: Type Four of the Enneagram Personality Type System, Donna has brought to life the personality of the Romantic in her current novel of Clara & Irving. Based on the true story of a Romantic, Donna takes the reader on a journey through the world of past lives, and how the seeds of a Romantic can be planted in lifetimes ago.

http://www.newbedfordguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/clara-irving-a-love-story-book.pngThe novel was inspired by the lives of Donna's grandparents, Clara and Irving Fisher who lived in Onset, Massachusetts. They were married in the 1920's, and had three sons - the youngest of which was her Father, Donald Herbert Fisher. Her grandparents passed away before she was born so she never knew them, but she imagined what their lives must have been like during the 1920's at the height of the era of vaudeville theatre and silent films.

During the 1990's, Donna worked as the Director of Public Relations at the Zeiterion Theatre, a world-class performing arts center in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She decided to write her grandparents' love story connecting their lifetime with her own experience of working at the Zeiterion.

Donna Fisher-Jackson, M.A., CHT is now a Certified Hypnotherapist, and utilizes past-life regression in her counseling business as a healing tool. She has assisted many people in going on journeys back in time to recover memories of soulmates with whom they have traveled across time.

Donna has been working in the counseling field since 1999. Her counseling business is Iris Holistic Counseling Services. She has an M.A. in Counseling Psychology specializing in Holistic Studies from John F. Kennedy University of Northern California. Suzie Daggett: Astrology sheds valuable light on life's journey

The way I work with Western Astrology is to use it as a tool for guidance in your daily life. Once you have your birth chart done, it's like having a personal map of your life's journey. Throughout your life, you can utilize this map. As you go through life, the planets move into different signs and interact with your birth chart bringing you new opportunities as well as life's lessons. If you know about these coming opportunities and lessons, then you can be more prepared for the changes coming your way. Astrology is a tool to help you live a more conscious life. Knowing that there is a higher purpose to your life, you can begin to make choices with awareness.

I received an e-mail recently from an author from California named Donna M. Fisher-Jackson, who asked if I was interested in writing a column about her book, "The Healing Path of the Romantic."

She lives in the Sierra Nevada foothills in Northern California, she told me, but is going to do a book-signing Dec. 17 at Barnes & Noble in Dartmouth - and she was going to donate 10 percent of her profits that day to The Standard-Times' Neediest Families Fund.

Wow.

Turns out Donna was born and raised in Wareham. She lived in Westport for 10 years, and worked as the public relations director for the Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford.

She and her husband moved to California 11 years ago. There, Donna founded Iris Holistic Counseling Services. But she still has a place in her heart for South Coast needy families.

Donna will be at Barnes & Noble in Dartmouth at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 to sign copies of "The Healing Path of the Romantic" (2009).

Fair focuses on alternative healing methods

By Soumitro Sen

Mar 12, 2007

If you bought a crystal dome from Branch Ellison's booth at the Mind, Body, Spirit Health Fair this past weekend, you'd be doing yourself multiple favors.

Ellison, 27, claimed his crystal domes - ranging in price from $2 to $2,300 - "circulate the energies of the body and help protect you from electrical low frequencies. They're used for different spiritual practices. They enhance sleep and energize your food and your water."

A certain crystal block could even change the taste of wine, Ellison said.

Ellison was just one among several holistic healers, psychics, tarot-card readers and metaphysical market vendors at the fair at Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City.

This was the 18th anniversary of the fair.

"This is really one of the best fairs in the area, and I've been to quite a few of them," said Donna Fisher-Jackson, a 46-year-old holistic counselor. "The people who come here are really into trying things. They are really open."

Fisher-Jackson, who has a master's degree in counseling psychology, said she gives guidance to people to help them make choices in their lives. read more
